12/24/24 I ended up on IBM Plex Mono, although the font I’ve been using, Berkeley Mono, isn’t in the game, presumably because it’s not free. One note that really affected the outcome of the game for me: make sure to adjust the font size and ligature on/off options to what you usually use in your editor.
12/24/24 A football game is long because of all the commercials and downtime between plays. These ~15 min versions of the games are great, even if—like me—you’re not a football fan. This particular game is a good one, but I think that several of the recent ones are also good.
12/24/24 I found this episode of “On With Kara Swisher” to be an excellent listen. Yann LeCun, Meta’s chief AI scientist, is a fascinating guest and Swisher did a good job interviewing him. It’s definitely worth a listen if you’re at all interested in LLMs and AI.
12/23/24 I was a Honda fan when I was younger, and have owned 3 Hondas—my first new car was a Honda CRX that remember fondly. I credit Honda for my love of small, light, sporty cars. Sadly, Honda has lost that touch—the Civic is unrecognizably big. Let’s hope that this combo can make some interesting cars.
12/20/24 Ouch. As a long-time Nikon fan—albeit one who reluctantly jumped ship to Sony out of frustration with Nikon’s lack of innovation in mirrorless other areas—this is sad to see.
12/14/24 I’ve steadfastly refused to watch any of Sony’s Spider-Man spinoffs. The only way we can get this kind of garbage to stop is to stop paying to see them. That includes watching them “for free” when they make their way to streaming services.
12/11/24 I’ve been using the new display modes in visionOS 2.2 since they came out in beta, including on four plane trips and one day in my van. As the article says, “…if it’s not in killer app territory, it’s at least right next door to it.”
