Thoughts on Movies
Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair in 70mm at the Alamo San Francisco
Ainsley and I went to see _Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair_ last night, and it was simply fantastic.
"Scarlett Johansson to Join 'The Batman 2,' Zoe Kravitz Not Likely to Return"
I wonder who she'll be. Vicki Vale? Poison Ivy? 🤔 On a tangential note, I've been belatedly catching up on _The Penguin_, which has been fantastic so far.
"Cinemark Signs 17-theater IMAX Deal in Latest Premium Play"
I'm glad to see this kind of thing, and I hope—as the article indicates—that the other chains continue to invest in their large-format screens. In particular, I'd love to see more 70mm-capable IMAX screens. It's one of the few things that gets me to go to the theater anymore.
"‘Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair’ Sets First Ever Theatrical Release for December, With 70mm and 35mm Presentations"
Oof, that's a long movie, intermission or no. Still, I might have to seek out a 70mm showing.
Superman (2025)
I saw the premiere of _Superman_ Thursday night, and was happy to see that it was a colorful, positive movie with a solid version of the character that the new James Gunn-led DCU can build on. I think that it is a great movie for kids, normies, and comic book fans alike.
"‘Kraven the Hunter’ Bombs With $11M Opening"
That's $11M too much, but I'm glad to see the correct signals getting sent.
"Kraven the Hunter is the flimsiest strand in Sony’s spider-free web"
I've steadfastly refused to watch any of Sony's Spider-Man spinoffs. The only way we can get this kind of garbage to stop is to stop paying to see them. That includes watching them "for free" when they make their way to streaming services.
