This is one of the things I wondered about as I was posting earlier: the weight of the bike. At the better part of 100 pounds, no one can reasonably expect to ride anywhere they'd have to carry it, especially up stairs. Hell, my Brompton (non-electric) folding bike is ~33 pounds, and I don't want to have to carry even that too far, especially when loaded with a bag of stuff when commuting! Unfortunately, the elevators and escalators at public transit around here (BART, Caltrain) are frequently broken, and being able to carry the bike up flights of stairs is just a reality.
