I didn't win anything, but I have managed to stay in the challenge by riding every day in July so far. This weekend, I leave for that bike trip. I plan to get a quick 20 minute dash on the local trail first thing in the morning before I leave, and ride in Oregon the next day, so I think I'll be able to stick with it through the month.

Kudos to Chris King for making it official and clear. Oof, I'm not sure I can make this happen, but I'll try. I'm doing a riding trip later this month, and ironically, that might be the biggest obstacle, logistically; the drive days are likely to make riding hard. I'll see if I can get creative. Then again, who am I kidding? The real obstacle is riding every day for a month. ;)

Netflix has re-released Neon Genesis Evangelion, perhaps one of the best anime series of all time. Not only that, but they've redone the English dub, which was notoriously bad. I haven't watched it in well over a decade, and then in subtitled Japanese form. I remember some of it being pretty intense, but am trying to decide whether or not to show it to Ainsley, who is ten. It might be a little opaque for her; I remember thinking that a lot of its subtext wasn't obvious. Still, it's a great show, and I might give it a shot with her, and will certainly re-watch it for myself.

This review on The Verge goes in a different direction than most I've noticed, and I thought it was well-written, although it's definitely going to draw criticism for bringing current politics into its discussion of the show.
