For two years running, I've been lucky enough to score a bottle of 12-year-old Van Winkle bourbon. They're hard to come by, so I'm getting spoiled. One of these is getting opened soon for consumption for sure now that I've got two. I just need an occasion, and Inauguration Day 2017 is most definitely not it. Hopefully next year I'll be able to land one of the 12-year-old's siblings!

"Freedom! '90" is one of my favorite songs of the era, and possibly ever. I saw George Michael in concert twice, most recently a few years ago after some of his more public embarrassments. He was very self-aware, coming on stage and saying, "Thank you for coming. I know it's not easy being a George Michael fan right now." He put on a great show, and I'm sorry I won't get to see another.
